Connect your AI assistant to ToolSuite

Work on your idea from the tools you already use. ToolSuite's connector lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP-capable assistants read your ideas, run validation steps and make small edits, with your permission and within a credit limit you set.

Server address https://mcp.startupignition.com/mcp

The connector is in a closed beta. If your account is not yet enabled, the sign-in page will say so. Ask for access at [email protected].

How it works

  1. Add the connector in your AI app using the server address above. Each app's steps are below.
  2. Your browser opens ToolSuite. Sign in, choose the workspaces the app may see, choose what it may do (read, run tools, edit), set a daily credit limit, and approve.
  3. Ask your assistant something. For example: "What does ToolSuite say about my idea's riskiest assumptions?" or "Show me my business model canvas as a picture."

You can change or remove the connection at any time under Settings → AI assistants & MCP in ToolSuite.

Setup by app

Name the connector ToolSuite everywhere; the server address is the same in every app.

Claude (claude.ai and the desktop app)

  1. Open Customize → Connectors (at claude.ai/customize/connectors).
  2. Click Add custom connector.
  3. Enter the name and the server address. Leave the OAuth client ID and secret empty, and click Add.
  4. Click Connect. ToolSuite opens in your browser: sign in, choose your workspaces, permissions and daily limit, and approve.
  5. In a chat, click + → Connectors to turn ToolSuite on or off for that conversation.

On a Team or Enterprise plan an Owner adds it once under Organization settings → Connectors → Add → Custom, then each member finds it under Customize → Connectors with the Custom label and clicks Connect.

Claude Code

Run the first line in a terminal, then the second to sign in (or type /mcp inside Claude Code and choose ToolSuite). The server shows Connected in /mcp when it worked.

claude mcp add --transport http toolsuite https://mcp.startupignition.com/mcp
claude mcp login toolsuite

ChatGPT

  1. Open chatgpt.com/plugins (Plugins in the ChatGPT sidebar).
  2. Click Add at the top right, then Add custom MCP server.
  3. Fill in the form:
    • Icon (optional): download ours and upload it.
    • Name: Startup Ignition ToolSuite. Description (optional): Validate startup ideas with ToolSuite.
    • Connection: keep Server URL selected and paste the server address, including the /mcp at the end.
    • Authentication: OAuth.
    • Advanced OAuth settings: leave everything as ChatGPT discovered it. The registration method it proposes (Client Identifier Metadata Document) works with ToolSuite, and so does Dynamic Client Registration. Leave the default scopes empty: you choose permissions on the ToolSuite sign-in page.
  4. Tick I understand and want to continue under the risk notice, then click Create as a plugin.
  5. ChatGPT opens the ToolSuite sign-in. Sign in, choose your workspaces, permissions and daily limit, and approve.
  6. In a chat, type @ in the prompt box and pick Startup Ignition ToolSuite. Under Settings → Plugins you can set whether ChatGPT asks before each tool runs ("Allow low-risk tools" is the default, so tools that run or edit will ask you first).

Custom MCP servers need a paid ChatGPT plan, and a workspace admin can turn them off for Business and Enterprise accounts.

Codex

In the terminal:

codex mcp add toolsuite --url https://mcp.startupignition.com/mcp
codex mcp login toolsuite

In the Codex app or the IDE extension: Settings → MCP servers → Add server, name it, choose Streamable HTTP, paste the server address, save, choose Restart, then Authenticate.

Cursor

If the Startup Ignition ToolSuite plugin is in the Cursor Marketplace, install it from there and skip to step 3. Otherwise:

  1. Open Cursor Settings → Tools & Integrations (older versions: MCP) and click Add Custom MCP (older versions: New MCP Server). This opens mcp.json.
  2. Add the server, or paste this into ~/.cursor/mcp.json yourself:
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "toolsuite": {
      "url": "https://mcp.startupignition.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
  1. Back in the settings list, click Needs login next to ToolSuite, then Open. ToolSuite opens in your browser: sign in and approve.

Gemini CLI

Install the ToolSuite extension, then inside Gemini CLI type /mcp auth toolsuite to sign in.

gemini extensions install https://github.com/richardsonjj36/toolsuite-gemini-extension

Or add the server by hand:

gemini mcp add -s user --transport http toolsuite https://mcp.startupignition.com/mcp

Grok

  1. Go to grok.com/connectors.
  2. Choose New connector, then Custom.
  3. Paste the server address and complete the ToolSuite sign-in.

VS Code and GitHub Copilot

The connector is listed in the MCP Registry as com.startupignition/toolsuite, so it may appear in the Extensions view's MCP section; installing it there works the same as the steps below.

  1. Open the Command Palette and run MCP: Add Server.
  2. Choose HTTP, paste the server address, name it toolsuite, and pick where to save it (Global for all your projects).
  3. When VS Code asks whether the server may authenticate, click Allow, then Open to reach the ToolSuite sign-in. If it does not ask, open mcp.json and click Start above the server.

Or add it from a terminal:

code --add-mcp '{"name":"toolsuite","type":"http","url":"https://mcp.startupignition.com/mcp"}'

Apps that cannot open a browser

Command-line tools and servers that cannot sign in through a browser can use a connector key instead. In ToolSuite, open Settings → AI assistants & MCP and choose Create a connector key. A key carries the workspaces, permissions and daily credit limit you give it, and can be revoked at any time. Give it to the app as a bearer token:

curl -sS https://mcp.startupignition.com/mcp \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer <your connector key>" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Accept: application/json, text/event-stream" \
  -d '{ "jsonrpc": "2.0", "id": 1, "method": "tools/list" }'

What it can do

  • Read everything on your idea pages: analysis, canvases, personas, assumptions, scripts, interview findings with participants' identities removed, and mentor conversations.
  • Run Idea Analysis, Big Idea Canvas, Business Model Canvas, Identify Assumptions, Interview Scripts, Wow! Factor Analysis, Market Research and Founder-Idea Fit.
  • Create ideas, and edit canvas answers, canvas items and assumptions. Every edit is recorded in the idea's history and can be undone.
  • Export PDFs and page pictures.

What it never does

  • Send your interview participants' identities or interview links to the assistant.
  • Spend more credits than the limit you set, or buy credits for you.
  • Read your billing details.
  • Act while your organization has turned connections off.

Credits

Runs cost the same credits as in the app. Your assistant is never shown prices: a run is simply refused if it would pass the daily limit you set for that app or the workspace's balance. Credits are managed in ToolSuite under Settings → Billing.

Disconnect

In ToolSuite, open Settings → AI assistants & MCP and choose Disconnect next to the app. Changing your password disconnects every app and revokes every connector key.

Privacy and support

How connected assistants are treated is covered in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Questions: [email protected].
