Three things it does

  1. 01

    One script per segment

What would break the business for an enterprise buyer is not what breaks it for a sole operator.

  2. 02

    Aimed at your assumptions

Built from the load-bearing beliefs named in the previous step, not from your feature list.

  3. 03

    Non-leading by construction

Avoids the "would you use…" phrasing founders reach for by instinct.

What it lets you do

  • Stop collecting encouraging yeses from people who will never buy
  • Walk into an interview knowing exactly what you need to find out
  • Get answers about what someone has done, not what they imagine they would do

The quality of a customer interview is set before it starts. A good script gets a useful no; a bad one gets an encouraging yes from someone who will never buy.

Common questions

What questions should I ask in a customer interview?

Questions about what the person has actually done, not what they would hypothetically do. Past behaviour, current workarounds, what they have already paid to solve the problem. Anything phrased as "would you" invites a free and meaningless yes.

Why does each segment need a different script?

Because the assumption at risk differs. What would break the business for an enterprise buyer — procurement, security review, integration — has nothing to do with what would break it for a solo operator, who has no budget and no process.

Can I edit the scripts?

Yes. They are a draft aimed at your assumptions, and you know your market. The value is in starting from questions built to avoid the leading phrasing founders fall into by default.
